Mags on the Net – Scam Alert

Not car related, but I wanted folks to beware of a company on the web that is purposely defrauding customers.  Mags on the Net.  Please be aware that almost no legitimate magazines allow third parties to solicit subscriptions via the Internet.  Don’t get burned like I did, buy direct of the magazine publisher.

I placed an order in July 2007 and received nothing.  In addition, the company refuses to return any customer service calls or emails.  Many people have also fallen victim, a quick Google will reveal this.  In hindsight, I should have taken a few minutes to research this company before placing an order.

    From the BBB –
The Better Business Bureau has attempted to present your complaint to Mags on the Net in an attempt to resolve this matter to your mutual satisfaction. Unfortunately, despite our efforts to achieve a mutually satisfactory resolution of this matter, we have received no response to your complaint. We have attempted to contact Mags on the Net through written correspondence twice on your behalf. We have also attempted to contact this firm by telephone. Despite such repeated efforts, we are compelled to close this matter in our files. This does not minimize the importance of your concerns to you, nor is it any reflection upon the validity of your dispute. We wish to provide you with prompt notification, as you may wish to pursue this matter through an alternative resource.

Why is this company still in business? With so many complaints, where can we go to get these guys off the net?

It is amazing to me as well. But basically, the BB and AG’s of each state are overwhelmed. They try to help where they can, but if the company ignores them, there is not much that they can do.
