Funny Story

So, I am driving East on Rt 70, pretty much just flowing with the traffic (~75MPH).  At some point, I get behind a plain Chevy that is moving along at about 70 MPH in the far left lane.  To be honest, I was not paying close attention and I drifted over to the right and passed the car.  As I go by, I look in my mirror and notice that it was an undercover officer, and he had just turned his lights on.  Crap I say, and pull over to the right and off the road.  As I slow down, the cop passes me, smiling…

Ultimate Rice

Just released!  Cross-drilled Brake Lines, the ultimate accessory for your high performance import.

Also other great accessories like the O-Pipe Dual Exhaust and Oil Bypass Line…

Green Car?

I really like this new Mercedes E320 BlueTec.  A luxury performance sedan that gets 30+ MPG is just what I am looking for.  If it was 20K cheaper, and AWD, it would be perfect.  Winner of the 2007 World Green Car Award.

Why don’t more car manufacturers move towards high performance diesels?  A diesel hybrid could really shine…

Chevy Convertible

My wife informed me last night that her all-time favorite car is a 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible.  Hmm, I guess some day I may just need to pick one up?

If you have one for sale, let me know…..

Mags on the Net – Scam Alert

Not car related, but I wanted folks to beware of a company on the web that is purposely defrauding customers.  Mags on the Net.  Please be aware that almost no legitimate magazines allow third parties to solicit subscriptions via the Internet.  Don’t get burned like I did, buy direct of the magazine publisher.

I placed an order in July 2007 and received nothing.  In addition, the company refuses to return any customer service calls or emails.  Many people have also fallen victim, a quick Google will reveal this.  In hindsight, I should have taken a few minutes to research this company before placing an order.

My Bad…

I have been changing the oil in my cars myself for years.  In fact, I don’t think I have ever had a dealer or repair shop change my oil.  Why do I do this?

1) I like to use full synthetic oil (Mobil 1) and a quality oil filter (K&N or Mobil 1)
2) I don’t trust a shop to use the oil and filter I provide
3) Gives me a chance to do a look over the whole vehicle (other fluid levels, brake pad left, etc)
4) I know the job will be done right!

So, a couple weeks ago, I change the oil in my Lotus as usual.  All appeared fine for several days, but this past weekend I noticed a small puddle of oil under the Lotus in the garage.  After pulling the under-tray, it was clear that I was getting a steady drop from the drain plug.  Apparantly the oil plug gasket had a slight leak.   I normally do not replace these washers on a regular basis, but I will be from now on.  Although this is the first time I have ever had one leak, it certainly seems like cheap insurance.  Think about it….

Late Christmas present, or future B-Day present…

I would really like one of these if you are looking to get me a present…

If the supercharger is too rich for your blood, consider the following…

Lotus vs. Squirrel

Where’s the engine?

LotusSqr

~ squirrels, cut into serving pieces, amount depends upon how many you can eat
~ olive oil
~ 1 large onion
~ 1 large green bell pepper
~ 2 cloves garlic
~ Cajun spice (Tony Chachere’s recommended)
~ 2 tbsp Tabasco sauce
~ 4 tbsp ketchup
~ 1 tbsp Gumbo File seasoning
~ cooked rice

In a deep pot or dutch oven, heat some olive oil.Season the squirrel on all sides with the Cajun seasoning. Add to the hot oil and turn to brown on all sides. Continue to cook until done.Place the onion, bell pepper and garlic in a blender. Cover with water and chop. Add to the pot when squirrel is done.

Sprinkle the added vegetables with Cajun seasoning.

Add the Tabasco sauce, ketchup and the Gumbo File. Stir to mix well.

Serve over the cooked rice.

Enjoy.

Really?

If you love cars, you really need to subscribe to the Winding Road.  When they first launched several years ago, I wondered if they would succeed.  Creating a Free Magazine, on the web, seemed like a long shot. But so far, they have pulled it off.

Give them a try, sign-up here.
